I’ve never given my piggies sweet potato and have only recently learned that they can have it. Would like advise please on portion size, how it is given eg batons, grated and how often it can be given. Many thanks in advance 😁

I usually use a potato peeler to make 4 or 5 thin slices and only feed it when the humans are also having some which is once every few weeks. I don't think it's very healthy, you could probably feed it a bit more than this but my boys aren't overly fussed about it.

Sweet potato is very high calorie, so is a very occasional treat, or a good tasty food for piggies with weight loss due to health problems. Mine only eat it grated, they view slices or chunks or batons with utter contempt! If your piggy is chubby and healthy then I wouldnt give more than a teaspoonful once or twice a month, its high calorie enough you can help a piggy regain 100g of lost weight after illness in a week using grated sweet potato with porridge oats!

Thanks folks. I eat it all the time and there’s rarely any left over. Will give them a tiny portion as a rare treat tomorrow

Mine have a thin slice a couple of times a week.
Ruby loves it (Ruby loves pretty much all food).
Harry occasionally eatsm it but sometimes he carries it around for a while, take s a small nibble and then abandons it.
