My one guinea pig is seeing a vet in 3 days but I want to do know if there is anything I can do to help her now... all her legs and feet are swollen, red, hair is missing and scabby looking. It just up showed couple of days ago and one of her ears is starting to get infected too. I'm stressed what can I do to ease her?20200104_133934.webp20200104_133956.webp

Hi!

It sounds rather uncomfortable, poor piggy! Hence the self-barbering (eating hair).

Unfortunately only your vet is entitled to prescribe antibiotics and analgesics (painkiller-cum-anti-inflammatory) or, if it is the heart, a diuretic, which is what you need. It rather sounds like something systemic and not a localised infection.

Please weigh your piggy daily and monitor the food intake. Step in with support feeding when needed. Our bridging care guide is a collection of all the necessary emergency care information, including how you can improvise with what you have got handy or easily available.
Emergency, Crisis and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

Please contact your vet clinic first thing in the morning for an emergency slot (if they have got a slot available) if your piggy is starting to go downhill rather quickly.

Went to the vet and she really doesn't know what it is but she prescribed antibiotics and bene-bac it's already clearing up (before the vet visit) I'm guessing it was an allergy to something only thing I can think of I bought a gunieadad liner and washed it with vinegar maybe she was sensitive to that.

Vinegar is usually not considered an allergen. as far as I know... But your piggy's symptoms were more unusual to what we are usually seeing.

Glad that the symptoms are receding! Thank you for the update!
