My piggie has currently been admitted to the vets.
She had a bladder stone removed from her vagaina 5-6 weeks ago all seemed fine until last week went to vets again she’s now on antibiotics for a suspected uti. She started losing weight rapidly she’s bleeding from her vagina it’s swollen and she’s all puffed up. She’s had antibiotics for infection already brought her back for another check up this morning and she’s been admitted for X-rays to see if there’s anymore stones.
I’m concerned it’s not related to a bladder infection or anymore stones... anyone got any experience in this ? She’s 4 years old.
She also seems to be getting a wet bum I’m presuming it’s because she’s sitting in the same spot she wees so regularly giving her bum a wipe with bum baths too

I'm going to attach a picture it’s a lot more swollen this morning

Sending healing vibes and support to you and your girl.
I hope she makes a good recovery.

Sending huge hugs. What a worry. I think the X-ray is the best thing to check if she’s maybe got a stone in her urethra or her bladder. Hope you soon hear from the vets.

Hope you hear from the vets soon. What a worry. The swelling could be so many things and it sounds like your vets are on the ball with starting to rule things out. I've seen swelling from constantly being wet, ovarian cysts (more likely because she was wet all the time), arthritis (again because she was wet all the time) and infection. The only time I have experienced rapid weight loss with down there problems was when my boar had stones so definitely think your vets are on the right track checking that first

Vets just called x ray is all clear I’m confused x

BIG HUGS

Fingers very firmly crossed!

It sounds rather like something in the reproductive tract may have gone badly wrong, from an infection of the womb lining (pyometra) or something in the womb going wrong to a burst ovarian cyst.
Initial vague symptoms are often very similar to urinary tract problems; so it is easy for vets not experienced with guinea pigs to overlook the reproductive tract :(

She’s home, they have sent us home with some different antibiotics septrim I think it’s called. If still the same in a week or she gets worse we need to go back x she’s still eating and drinking and pooping fine x
