I've just gone to give my boys fresh water and noticed that one of my poor boys has somehow managed to snap one of his teeth inside the water bottle nozzle. I tested it and the water didn't seem to be coming out with the tooth blocking it. I'm not sure exactly when this happened but I do check their bottles regularly and checked it around 7pm last night. Now I'm really worried that he's not been able to have water for 14 hours (which is when I last checked the bottle). He seems normal in himself but has been drinking none stop for about 10 minutes. I'm worried he could drink too much in a short space of time? Also worried he's dehydrated so what should I be looking at for?

I think there is a pinch test you can do, am not 100% but I think if you pinch and the skin falls quickly back into place then it is ok, but if it takes longer then they may be dehydrated. You can always syringe him some water if you are worried or give him some cucumber. Which tooth was it? is he eating ok?

Normal poos is a good sign, they don't look dry at all so they?

I've just tried to pinch his skin and it seems okay, it snaps back into place although it's difficult to pinch their skin. He's eating fine and he's had a big drink so everything seems okay. I just feel so guilty, going to run out to pets at home in a minute and get my boys a spare bottle each for the cage so if anything like this happens again then they have another bottle. I've attached a photo for you to see the tooth, it's not snapped right down so he should be fine

Right everyone, milans tooth grew back fine with no problems. However, he has snapped the same tooth again (stuck in the water bottle again)! This is the second time in just under two weeks and I can't work out why. Could there be an underlying problem or could it be he's being too rough drinking his water? I think a vet visit is in order in the next few days :(

It might be worth changing to a "nipple spout". I use these and there isn't a way for them to snap teeth on them. I think he may just be an enthusiastic drinker, but the vet can check to see if there is an underlying problem.
