well, as i'm putting money into adopting 4 guineas (that makes a £60 rehoming fee), building little buildings for Guinea Pig Village has been put on hold. i'll probably make them at a later date. i might wait until the christmas holidays this year, so Chris can help.

so, as for now, this is Guinea Pig Village:

the little green box is just something my sister gave me. Allie seems to like it. i lined it with fleece, and she popcorned around in it x) which made all of my efforts worthwhile

another hutch is going to be added to this, so that there will be more piggy sleeping space when my adoptees arrive. i'm thinking that i'll put the hutch on top of the current one, and build a little ladder with sides on as access. then there will still be a lot of runaround space.

it is completely piggy proofed, and predator proof. the door has been added t the hutch for during particularly harsh weather and/or night time depending, as i haven't sorted the roof yet.

so much time effort and money has gone into that, and honestly, i'm more than happy with it. i feel really proud of myself at the minute :)

i'll also be adding more toys and things to play with. they have destroyed their tree, but i can still hang their greens from it :)

Aahh wowie! It looks fabulous, esp the amount of space they have to run around in :) Your new piggies will like it too and i esp like the tree idea :)

Looking great, they have loads of places to play and hide. No wonder you are so proud of your achievements!

i was so happy. i'd expected them to be their usual ungrateful selves, but they were running around exploring for ages. i thought they'd just sit in the hutch and mope. even Tiny moved around a little bit :p i've been checking on them obsessively, and will be locking them away in their hutch at 10-11sih (if the weathers good till them), and that will be the daily routine for a while. and now i'm off to check them again :p

It looks really nice! You must have worked so hard :)! It's a lovely large space for them to run around in. I like your double decker hutch idea!

thanks everyone. i'm going to be building little houses bit by bit, a few at a time, so i can spread the cost over a longer period. but i'm dying to try my hand at it :p

i was told yesterday that Muppet's neutering is today, so fingers crossed everyone. i'm nervous for him, and i've never let the little guy. but hopefully, all will be well, and he and Maria can join my girlies in their pen (in the other hutch for a while, until a set time after his neutering, obviously :) )

i can't wait. i've just let my girls out of the hutch for the day, and they're just happily zipping around in their run area. oddly, i've been going out to watch them, and rather than hiding, they've just been sat staring at me. Parsley even took a few steps towards me.

now i can go sit in their area with them, so i'll have a better chance at interacting with them than i did with their hutch :) so maybe they'll finally be able to get used to me. they've always been terrified in the past, as i've had to pick them up to interact with them, and that's the part that they hate the most

Fingers crossed for Muppet! Your set up looks great!

after the time i've had recently with my piggies, i was absolutely terrified of Layla's update on Muppet today, as i couldn't stop thinking about my rotten luck. but she emailed me a few hours ago to tell me he was okay (i'd been checking my email at regular intervals all day :red), so that has made my day.
