Her least favourite thing. I hate listening to her squeal when she gets it done. I die a bit inside. I especially hate when I can't hold her while she gets them done.

Looks like I'll have to prepare a treat :)

Took our Ben this morning to have his nails clipped. He sits still and just mumbles a bit. Only takes 5 minutes and cheap enough at £6.01 inc vat.

The dreaded nail clipping! As long as Cookie and Treacle have food to eat at the same time it tends to go ok, with only tiny grump's. I used to hate the big squeals we used to get off them at first...

I'm sure cinnamon will soon forget about it with the help of some lovely noms!

Please do not worry. It does not hurt at all. I think they just like to scare us!

She's had it done a million time, she will never ever get used to it. Her nails grow so fast it has to be done quite often as they have a bad habit of curling underneath her feet.

But then she enjoys some delish noms and almost falls asleep in my arms :3

LOL

When I first met Guido, about a year before I brought him home to live with me (he belonged to one of my friends and came to live with me when she had to move somewhere she couldn't have pets), I volunteered to hold him while she trimmed his nails. We wrapped him in a towel and she clipped while I held him steady, and the little bit me!

By the time I brought him home with me, he'd figured out how to keep his own nails short. I think I had to trim them myself maybe once in the three years I had him, and those front nails of his were pointy and sharp!

I know how to cut her nails, she just squirms to much for me to do it, and she definitely doesn't like other people holding her if I were to try. I'm just doing what I know is safer for her. I have to get hers cut about once every 2 months.

i do mine at home, and i hate it as much as they do :{ it's a 2 man job because the wriggle so much. and they sulk and give me dirty looks for hours afterwards! rolleyes x

I ended up buying a pair of nail clippers from the pet store. I sat her on my lap in her blanket (I'm allergic to her and my legs will get all splotchy) and a carrot to nom. She didn't make any noise or squirm at all. Well she did a bit, turns out one of her nails curled up almost into the pad of her foot. Poor thing :(

I was always so afraid to do her nails myself, but now that she could be sick I didn`t want to risk taking her out of the apartment until it`s a bit warmer. I didn`t want the possibility of it being exposed to the other animals they keep there.

She definitely feels better though :)

awwwww Cinnamon your mummy is just trying to look after you ! rolleyes

The noise they make is upsetting..... my OH yells out.......are you clipping Velvet's nails again? he knows that she carries on like crazy too!
I used to get our little boars nails clipped whilst he was having his toofies done! i was too scared in those days to attempt it!

i use people nail clippers, i found them much easier to use because you can see exactly where you're cutting, and i found that pet nail clippers just bent the nail sometimes instead of cutting them grrrr x

The only problem with regular nail clippers is there is a chance to have nail splitting..

really :{ i've never had a problem but thanks, i'll keep an eye out for that. wouldn't want to hurt them. nail clipping time is bad enough! haha! x
