Hi All,

Wrote in the how are you feeling thread about some pigs I was asked to take in from my vets. Well I rung them back to claify some details. There are FOUR girls and ONE boar as well as mum. I was originally told three sows and two boars but I'll be sure to sex them myself when they arrive.

They are two months old so obviously seperated. Mum was a Petshop special (pregnant when purchased) by a university student (she is training to be a vet and does placement at the practise) and she can't cope with all the pigs in her digs understandably although sounds like she has tried and has decided to find homes for them as its not fair on them getting no attention.

I've roped my cousin into helping me, she was thinking of Guineas as she recently lost her NewFoundland dog and wanted something a little smaller..well...a lot smaller! I'll loan her some of my C&C. Not sure how many girls she wants but would be a big help if she could take them all and leave me with the little lad!

As for what they are, all I know is they are silver and some are silver and white! Silver what? I don't know! Peruvians, Aby's, Shelties. Oh don't let them be long haired!...lol I won't part with them! ;D

They are arriving Sunday as I explained I moved my own herd and want to settle them before I take more on and that suits the young girl better as well. Really felt for her, all she wanted was a guinea pig and there she was with half a dozen on her hands within weeks!

Will keep you all posted!

Keep us upto date with them.
Silver, could be silver agouti, in either smooth or rex. Rex is very common Silver agouti but they could actually be Slate or Lilac and to the uneducated eye in colours they look silver. Slates have ruby eyes and Lilacs have pink eyes.

i still don't know how you do it, i could never take piggies in and then give them away. i know it is rewarding but i would get so attached to the piggies they'd be with me always. i think people like you, helen and vicky and anyone else i haven't mentioned do a wonderful job and you are alll a very special type of person. and i bet if they could all the piggies would say thank you. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping your cousin can help you and feel so sorry for the girl who had to give them up, couldn't she keep 2 of them for herself? hoping you find good homes for them all and well done again. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: O0 :-* :-* :-*

Awww Louise your gonna end up with a right brood ;D

If there rex's silver agoutis your in for a right treat! I love them :smitten: :smitten:

Aww I know (Thanks for your PM Sian will reply when girls are in bed)

Mary yep thats what I said but she already has 2 and lives in a room in a house as she is a student. I've just been to my cousins with enough grids to make a 8x3 for them and a load of fleece blankets.

Louis (Newfoundland) was in a 10x8 Shed (that was his kennel) so she has enouh room. Ooo I could give her more pigs! ;D Nice to know I've some back up. I can only fit two more cages in the wendy house! ;D

Would love to see the Wendi House bet it looks great with them all moved in.

Gosh i remember when Wendi Houses were plastic I had a few in my time ;D

Lindsay the one I had had to be put together with plastic sticks and connectors and then you put a plastic sheeting over it for the house. Took forever to do and by the time you had finished you were bored!

The plan is for my cousin to take the girls when they arrive and I'll keep Spencer will get Debi (my cousin) to snap the girls and send them over.

Right off to watch the Vicar of Dibley for the millionith time! :Dxxx

great that you're going to take them on :) good luck!

Hi All,

Just an update. Spoke to my cousin and we have decided to keep the boy with the herd of girls (although seperate for now) she is going to get him neutered and then he can live with the herd. She has vast knowledge of guinea pigs (had them all her life) and knows more than me...haha so I trust her judgement. Will be nice for little Spencer to stay with his sisters and mum. I've give her a cage for him for now bless him he just needs fattening up and to be a little bit older.

Will get some piccies when I am over there.

am so happy for your cousin to have a family of piggies. will she be keeping them forever or just fostering like you? it would be good if they could stay together for ever. does the love of guinea piggies run in your family? at least you will get to see them. let us know names too. hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* did karen get hold of you? she wants $158.00 for a gypsy about 80 pounds. so will have to wait a long time! hugs to you all :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Hi Mary,

My cousin is keeping them. The girl who is giving them up prefers if they can all stay together and my cousin said she can pop by anytime to see how they are getting on. I have a few relations who have pigs and rabbits they seem more popular in Norfolk than Liverpool though.

Still no word from Karen. £80 not bad when you think of the work that goes into these things but obviously you have to save for that. I love her Shelties which is why I wanted a Cuzzy! So cute! :smitten:

Right Caitlin is covered head to toe in chicken pox so going to dap her with cream and see if that improves her mood! She woke up with them! This should be the last of the spots now! Unless Peter gets them! ;D

Speak soon!
