I wonder how many of the Forum members are old enough to remember the TV series "Tales of the Riverbank"? Not many, I bet. It started in the early sixties and was in black and white. It starred a white rat named Roderick, a hamster named Hammy and a guinea pig named GP. They got up to all sorts of adventures on the banks of a river. GP even had a diving bell and an aeroplane! The show was made using real animals and the things they made them do would be outlawed now! The series was revived in the 80's and this time it was in colour. A DVD, "Further Tales of the Riverbank", featuring 8 of their tales, was released earlier this year and another is due out later. You can find the DVD on Amazon.

I don't remember this one am going to give it a Google.

I'm 29, but know this as my Mum and Nan loved tales of the riverbank! (and still do)
Me and my sister would watched the re-runs on TV in the 90's, they were on very early!
We also had it on video not sure if it was the 60's or 80's, I can only remember it in black & white,
I also remember that 'GP' the guinea pig had a hot air balloon and a boat ^-^

I remember it well, it was my favourite programme as a child & I used to cry at the end when the music played lol :)

I'm 11 lol, but I watched on YouTube and how cute!

I am definitely old enough to remember Tales of the Riverbank narrated by Johnny Morris. I have a video of it kicking around somewhere. Think I'll get the DVD as a bit of nostalgia.

Awww i'm too young to remember it but my mum told me how cute it was, so i looked it up!

There's some on youtube, it's very sweet... :)

I remember it. My mum bought me a coloured version in the 90s on vhs. I think there was One episode with them in a hot air balloon!
