Hi! Guinea pigs can have heart attacks and strokes right out of the blue at any age. It is always a big shock, as there are no warning signs.

I am very sorry for you. It is nothing you have done wrong or could have prevented or done about even if you had been there. In that case, Taz would have likely passed away on the way to the out-of-hours vet. Heart attacks especially can strike so suddenly that a piggy has still got food in its mouth which it has been chewing.

Having lost 3 of my own this year already, two of them only 3 days apart, I know how upsetting it is and how you inevitably end up questioning yourself even though your brain knows that it is not down to something you have done wrong. But we are hardwired to feel guilty or feel like a failure whenever a beloved one dies; it is normal for the onset of the grieving process. This is of course so much worse when there are multiple deaths. Only time can heal, but please try not to feel guilty about having missed something. You haven't!

RIP Taz - try to take consolation that whatever it was, he has not suffered when it happened in his sleep.

BIG HUGS

I am so sorry for your loss. Please don't worry it was something you did wrong you are a caring and attentive piggy slave and would have noticed if Taz was ill. Taz went quickly in his sleep in his favourite spot. Sending you hugs.
RIP Taz.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately sometimes guinea pigs go from apparently fine to acute ill or passing away very quickly. The last two pigs we lost both seemed okay in the morning and passed away by nightfall. It really wasn't anything you did or could have prevented. ((HUGS)) to you and so sorry!

I am so sorry to hear this. Always enjoyed seeing taz photos on forum. Huge hugs

Sleep well little one
