Hi looking for advice my 6 year old healthy pig has had 4 anaesthetics for teeth filing every 3 months my vet thinks he should be put down next time I know it is a risk under anaesthetic and he is older and not a pleasant experience for the Guinea pig he is enjoying life at the moment eating and running around I think he should be given a chance I am not a vet just interested in other opinions like to do do best by the animal

I run a sanctuary for guinea pigs with ongoing dental issues and our vet is amazing and can do conscious dentals. I see you are in the West Midlands. Would you be able to travel to Northampton? I am not sure if they are taking on new dental patients at the moment but it would be worth giving them a ring.

It's the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton. Telephone no 01604 478888

I can really recommend TEAS and their vet Simon Maddock and his wife, they are absolutely amazing. We used to take our boar Ted for conscious dentals to Simon or Kim all the way from Cornwall. They got Ted eating hay again 9n his first conscious dental. Debbie’s sanctuary is amazing with lots of dental piggies living their very best lives. Please get in touch with her and have a look at her fb and website
