Hi

One of my piggies has odd wear on one of his teeth. One bottom tooth is longer than the other. Vets have told me not to worry but to keep an eye on him.

Anyone else had this and if so any tips on getting him to wear them down even?

Many Thanks

Is this new thing? If so it could be a sign of problems with the back teeth, which would need a competent guinea pig vet to check.

Is he still eating hay and hard foods?

I've heard shredding food helps alot when one tooth is longer than the other, you could try that? Its not from my own personal experience, though.

Is it one tooth is a step up from the other I.e he's broken the small one or do they go down in a slant from one tooth to the next?

If it's a break he should be fine, just monitor his weight and cut his veg up small so he can eat.

If the teeth are slanted at an angle then this indicates a dental issue with the back teeth which would require a vet visit with a piggy savvy vet for a diagnosis.

All the best x

It looks like a step. Vet said his back teeth are perfect Just wondered if there was any treats or toys I ccould use to help

It should sort itself out but don't be tempted to give him any hard stuff as this may make the normal tooth snap (which may actually happen as there's extra pressure on it). If it does, don't worry.. They will both grow back as the same pace at this point.

Plenty of hay as usual and keep an eye on his weight x
