Hello i have a guinea pig that lost her front bottom teeth n needs to have her top teeth trimmed i took her vets today and the vet seems to have cut them so short and they have been bleeding..... I'm worried now if shes going to be ok.. Anyone else hadany similar problem

Hi and welcome

OUCH!

How piggy savvy are your vets and do you have access to another vet? I would make an official complaint to the clinic in any case.
Have they given you at least painkillers?

Here are our syringe feeding tips if your piggy is feeling too painful to pick up any food. Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

PS: We may be able to help you better if we knew which country you are in.

I'm from the uk... No they havent given me any pain relief but i have some left from when another of my pigs had a sore eye she seems to be ok eatin if i break the leafs up small enough

Can you get your piggy seen at the Cat & Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton? The vet there sees piggies literally from all over the country (from Cornwall right up to Edinburgh) and does about 15 piggy dentals every week; he is the most practised and experienced vet in that field and has saved many lives that had been given up by their local vets.

But I am glad that she is hasn't lost her appetite and is still able and willing to eat cut up/grated food. Weigh her daily at the same time until you are sure that she is eating enough hay (should make around 80% of the daily food intake and cannot be controlled otherwise), just to be on the safe side.

I dont know i live so far away from there.and no way to get there... I'm just goin to keep an eye on here.. Think atm shes just feeling alittle sore but shes eaten some grated cucumber n had some hay and if she dont perk up after a day il make her an appointment at a different vets....
Thanks for all the advise 😊

There is a good piggie savvy vet in Derbyshire a lady called Ellie Whithead, here is her link, if you can’t get to Northampton, she does conscious dentals

Good luck with your poor piggie, I have two dental piggies and travel from West Cornwall to the Cat and Rabbit Clinic vets in Northampton, they are marvellous, definitely worth the effort x
The main thing is making sure she feeds well while her teeth grow back. Then hopefully align correctly with the opposing incisors so they wear down properly by rubbing against each other
