I recently took on a sow who was heavily pregnant. She gave birth and all babies are well. She is however not so good, she only has three legs and on the front leg on the opposite side to the one missing she has a terrible abcess in her foot which the vet believes is a pressure sore from being on an unsuitable surface previous to me having her, it was a wire floor. When she was heavily pregnant she could hardly walk when I got her. She is now on big fleecy beds and is happy and bright and moving around ok but her wound is just awful. She is on Baytril and I am washing the wound numerous times a day. It manages to completley heal over in a matter of hours and when ever I remove the scab it pours puss 8... I have spoken with the vet a number of times but been told to just contiue with what I am doing. Does anybody have any advice or tips on anything I could be using/doing to help her. She is being so so so brave but its breaking my heart because she cries when I clean it but lets me do it without a fuss. I really am worried sick about her, it looks like it will never heal
