The boys have fallen out - again!

After re-bonding Chewy and Spike and thinking they were getting on brilliantly - over a week without so much as a rumble - I founf Chewy had scratches all round his nose and next to his ear today :( Again, I haven't witnessed ANY trouble or fighting at all, but I'm guessing Spike has been being a bit of a bully.
I don't feel like there's anything else I can do now - although any suggestions are welcome.
I can't leave them together can I? I'm guessing its likely to carry on like this? And although there is no serious damage, it was enough to draw a small amount of blood :(
Really don't know what to do now. I'm not happy to have them kept singly and there isn't enough space for side by side living.
 
Well as you didnt see anything, you cant be too sure what happened. I would leave them together for now and see what happens. Even my most placid two have the occasional go at each other. Is there teeth chattering going on? If not, then its probably not too bad. Hang on in there :)
 
I haven't hearn ANY teeth chattering since they have been together this time. What worries me is that its just like it was the first time they fell out - Spike is fine but Chewy has scratches all around his face - especially around his mouth and nose. Not sure how long I should "wait and see" :-\
 
Well Teddy and Larry have had a bit of a falling out twice since I got them. I was so wanting to get in there and separate them but I held back and just watched. The first time wasnt too bad, the second time Larry had Teddy on the floor of their cage and looked like he was biting his neck to keep him down, then he would chase him round and round for ages before doing the neck thing again. Poor Teddy was squealing and Larry was rumbling. In the end, after about 1/2 hour, I got Larry out as he had dribble all down his chin and he was really hot. I took him outside to cool off and gave him some water. After about 10 minutes, I put him back, they had a bit of a rumble and Larry passed out fast asleep ;D
Teddy wasnt injured at all, but had a very wet neck...it was stressful for me but they have been fine since!
 
This is the damage to Chewy, there is also a small scab on his ear that you can't see. How bad does it look?

Aww bless him. It doesnt look too bad but I can see why you are concerned. Are you bathing it in salt water?
Maybe give them till after the weekend if you are around to keep a close eye and see from there. You could always seperate them at night time if you are worried? If Chewy seems withdrawn though and it is apparent he is being bullied, it might be best to seperate them now :-\
 
Aw it still looks like he's smiling even with all them scratches :smitten: i'd have them out tonight maybe if you can and see if there is anything going on xx
 
A gorgeous little face even with all the scratches. I presume that you have tried all the usual tricks, two of absolutely everything etc. etc. (sorry, not trying to teach you to suck eggs). I would try having them both out for floor time and sit back and watch - have a towel or two handy just in case you need to separate the boys. Good luck, they sound like right little characters.

Yep, I have got two bowls, two bottles, two hide-outs . .
The weird thing is that they SEEM fine whenever I go to see them . . excpet earlier today when I cleaned their hutch out I put them in a large box while I was doing it and a fight broke out then, but that was the first time I had actually witnessed any trouble.
I'll try the floor time and see if they behave any differently then - usually I don't bring them in much; they have time outside in the run.
 
Good luck with the boys LL, in some ways it would be helpful if they actually did get up to something, at least that way you would be able to make a decision slightly more easily.
 
Yes! Its really hard - not wanting to make the wrong decision either way!
 
Lots of fighting today :(
While I was out in the shed cleaning out the rabbits and piggies (for about an hour) they were almost constantly rumbling at each other, teeth chattering then launching at each other ffrom time to time. No realk biting or any injuries but it doesn't look very hopeful. And surprisingly, the one with all the scratches was starting a lot of the fights ::) So I think its 6 of one half a dozen of the other.
