Our indoor boys really stink. I clean their cage every couple of days but it constantly smells. The other day I put the boys outside, cleaned their cage, brought them back in and within an hour it stunk again.

When we have the boys out for carpet time we constantly get whiffs of a really pungeunt 'boy smell'. They seem to wipe their scents on certain parts of the carpet and it stinks!

Finally, we bath the boys once every month or so. We use baby shampoo and it makes them all fluffy and puffy (looks cute but they're not supposed to look like that!) and they still stink within a day afterwards!

Any advice on how to make them less smelly or are we destined to have a smelly back porch (where the boys are housed!)

What do you house them on?
i have 8 boars and none are particuarly smelly, maybe its only one piggy that smells?
have you looked into it maybe being a medical issue,if its them spraying boar scent everywhere i dont know anything that can help xxxxxx

My boys stink, too.

I've grown to love it but the rest of my family can't stand it.

As previously said, it could be diet.
I febreeze my carpets every day or two, so the boy smell isn't quite so strong rolleyes

Febreeze isn't very strong so it doesn't aggravate their sensitive little snozzes.

But it's strong enough to counter the Guinea smell.
You can sort of smell them both together. It smells like you've just brought some laundry in from the clothes line, it's that lightly fragranced.

Something like that might help.

I dont notice the boys smelling, but since this warm weather i have noticed that the bedding is smelly much stronger, but Saturday they are due for their weekly change in bedding, even though i hoover their poos out every night the smell has deffo got stronger. My boyfriend was trying to get to sleep last night and said "god what is that smell"!

My boys smell themselves but their cages don't since I switched to megazorb. I tried both fleece and vet bed and they were stinking within 2 days.

I use about 10 sheets thick of newspaper then megazorb. I leave them a whole week without a full clean. every other day I scoop out the worse soiled bits and any poo / wee corners and replace the megazorb in those areas. It makes it last so much longer.

When I went away recently I told my mum not to bother cleaning them out just to cuddle feed etc.. and they lasted 8 days on megazorb without smelling (i did make it extra thick though! I did ask her to fish out any old veggies but that was all.

I find hay stinks after a couple of hours if they wee on it so I fish out any off the floor every 2 days. They get hay in a rack which falls to the ground and gets so smelly.

Is that ok for outdoor use too? I currently use hay all over the hutches, and my boys stink! mind the girls dont, so thinking it may be a boy thing?
Would try anything that keeps the pongs to a minimum lol x

Not sure I would imagine so. It is horse bedding you can get of internet or a local horse place may have it! I have indoor piggies but i don't see why not!
