At ten to one this morning, I said goodbye to a very special little lady. Demon was such a character, famous for her hairdressing skills on cagemate Hannah and for standing no nonsense from anyone, furry or human! 'No-one messes with Demon'.

She was born just over five years ago. The most unique looking piggy ever. She had bright, piecing red eyes and ears which stood up rather than flop over. She was clearly the leader and brothers and sister, Ben, Joe and Millie all looked up to her and would follow her everywhere.

Even with 21 other piggies, the house seems empty without her.

Have fun at Rainbow Bridge dearest Demon! New haircuts all round for everyone!

I so hope you have found your Mummy Crunchie and Daddy Mr Tiggy, Schmichael, Millie and Joe, plus your friends Cookie, Priya and Leah!

Hannah is missing you so much and looks lost without you. I sitll can't believe you have gone!

So sorry for the loss of such a great character.

RIP special girl - you will be much missed.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely messages.

It's hard to believe she has gone as she seemed fine until the day before. I noticed she looked incredibly fluffed up. I've never witnessed the fluffed up appearance before, and hope I never do again. She looked huge, yet when I lifted her out I could instantly tell she had lost a lot of weight. I made the decision to give her a dose of antibiotic and took her to Simon, my vet, the next day. He felt two lumps inside of her and suggested I carry on with the antibiotic over the weekend and try to feed her up a little so he could do explorative surgery at the start of the week if she hadn't started to look better. Demon, had other ideas though, and decided it was time to join her mum, dad and other family members.

When I took her to Simon to arrange her cremation I told him he could take a look to see what the problem had been, as I feel anything which could extend his knowledge has to be good, and might just save another piggy in the future. He found her gall bladder to be very infected and swollen to size of a golf ball, which was the largest lump he had felt, plus her liver was very infected too. The other smaller lump was an ovarian cyst, which she could have lived with. Nothing surgical could have saved her. The only hope would have been that the antibiotics could have worked, but sadly the infection had gotten too bad, before she started to show any symptoms of illness.

:( i'm so gutted about Demon Debbie, she was such a character. I'll miss hearing about her. I'm thinking of you.
Sleep tight Demon you gorgeous girl x

Debbie, you know how very sad I am about this. Demon was a beautiful guinea, and those photos are stunning.

Sleep well, darling girl, your mummy misses you so very much xx

I know it's a bit late Debbie, I've only just seen this, but I'm so sorry to hear about Demon. She sounds like she was quite a little character! And I love the pic of the piggy lips, what a cutie.

RIP Demon xx
