Hi all...

Thought we would update you all with our goings on. We're 5 days in and loving having our boys. We have probably been as nervous having them here as they have of being here! We wanted everything to be perfect for them. We were worried they weren't eating, pooing drinking etc etc but they've turned into little munching poopers haha.... Anyway.. We have names now HURRAY!... OLLY and LEO. Olly is a play on Ole which is a play on Leo lol.... And Leo is named after the character from the Hit Series Charmed (our favourite programme), The "White Lighter" because Leo is white (see what we did there). I have attached a picture that I took whilst they were playing in the bath with their new Chube and carrots whilst we cleaned out their cage - which was GREAT fun... we had a ball getting their cage all pretty again! Anyway, thanks for reading and thank you ALL again for your help and support over the last few days it really has been a comfort to us both knowing that there are people out there that have been or are going through the same worries as us!

Thanks Again
Dean, Steven, Olly & Leo

They are so cute, what a lovely photo.
It's so nerve wracking at first but you'll soon be able to relax (as they do)
Enjoy being piggy slaves! :))

you know what... We never thought we would get so attached so quickly. They were so good for us when we put them in the bath (empty and with a towel btw lol) whilst we cleaned the cage out... it didn't phase them at all.... they posed for the photos it was amazing. Steven and I have just spent the last 2 evenings watching them. you don't even really have to be Doctor Dolittle to listen to these too either, they're so vocal and you can tell what they are saying to one another then watching there actions. We put a bit of carrot in earlier and Leo poped his head out to spy then said to Olly.. have a look out there... Olly looked out then said to Leo.. go get it... Leo said no and within seconds Olly was out, grabbing the carrot and back in with it. They really are incredible animals.

It's when you start having a conversation with them you have to start to worry. :(|)
(please tell me I'm not the only one! lol)

hi all....

I think our babies maybe popcorn... just jumping in the air for no reason lol... What does this mean.. they are doing it more and more. The other thing they are doing is racing round... like they're playing tig. Every so often it's like they have a mad 5 minutes, knocking everything over and letting off steam, or so it seems. is this normal??

xx

Popcorning = happy pigs.

Ps I love charmed and your piggies are gorgeous x), welcome to the forum.

Of course I meant popcorning DOW! Oh and they love lap time now, they sit and happily eat parsley out of our hands hehehe

Hahah.. thanks.. We loved charmed too, we were going to call our babies Wyatt and Chris but once we saw them we changed our mind. They suit there names now.. Leo and Olly. We love them to bits! Hope they are happy!

I am sure that they are happy with having found such a loving home - wonderful boys, and I am sorry I missed out on them while I was away!

Yay! Popcorning and madly running laps is very good and very normal. Great to hear they've settled in so well.
Congratulations. :(|)

What lovely guinea boys you have there. Lovely colours and very nice indeed!

Welcome to the forum and the spell of piggy slavery that they put over you!

Thanks for all your lovely comments, it is great to be part of such a warm and wonderful community. Our boys are a pleasure to be with and we're now a complete family. We will get some more pictures taken soon but i've put another one from the few i took last week. If Leo is a PEW (not sure what that is, apologies for our pignorance) then can anyone tell us what Olly is? Steven and I are really not sure about breeds etc.

Thanks again all!

They look like a pair of very handsome boys whish will grow up to be heartbreakers! lol You have chosen great names for them, although every leo named thing i know was really really naughty!

Leo is a cheeky little thing. When we have lap time he scurry's up onto Steven's shoulder and sits inbetween his shoulder and neck... Steven does get a bit worried that he will nip him but i think he goes up there to feel safe.. Not sure though. They do both make a bit of noise during lap time. Not sure what they're saying but I hope it's good. Olly did the most AMAZING thing tonight. He nudged me twice in the arm with his head, then pee'd all over me. afterwards I couldn't believe that he was trying to tell me, i know the sign now and he'll get put in his tray quickly in future lol. but HOW warm is piggy pee, i couldn't believe it haha. I'll tell you what we have done though, Steven bought a flat leaf parsley plant from tesco that was about a £1. We use it every time we have lap time and they love it. Steven has replanted the roots so hopefully the parsley will keep growing.. WHAT a bargain!

Yep, pee is definitely warming. They seem to have settled with you really well. :)

I think PEW is a pink eyed white guinea pig. I read it on here a while back (I'd wondered for ages). rolleyes

Excellent names, very well thought of! And such sweet looking guineas too. I remember very well those first few months with mine. It's a big learning curve, but so much fun getting to know them. :)

WELCOME from us in OZ :)
What two gorgeous little boars, Leo and Olly love the way you came up with their names x)x)
More pics please, especially ones close up drool
I love it when they all of a sudden go nuts and start to roar around, popcorn then look so confuzzled cause they are then facing the other direction :(|) ahhhhhhhh you have two happily little boys xxxxxxxxxxx

Territorial Piggies

When they have lap time I always have Olly and Steven always has his lap time with Leo. The funniest thing happened tonight though.... After about 5 minutes I had to run to the little boys room so gave Olly to Steven whilst he had Leo. Leo was sitting up on Steven's shoulder, Olly started climbing up Steven's chest then Leo started making funny noises, a funny chattering noise we had not heard before whilst he ran down to him. Is this the type of noise that says "what do you think you're doing here"? It was so funny. I think in future we may have to alternate. What do we all think?

hello guys

i am not an expert but iv learned a lot through the forum and in my experiences so far my pigs teeth chatter (its an odd noise) when they are not happy at something.

craig sometimes chatters at me sometimes. and craig and david chatter at eachother when they are not happy at eachother, like a territorial thing.when the chattering gets really loud (and sounds really abnormal) mine have been ready to have a fight. but you would know if they were going to fight so i wouldnt worry about that.

i have reduced mine chattering at eachother and fighting by making them a bigger cc cage and giving them two of everything, two hay trays, 2 water bottles and two hideys and i try to treat them both equal hahahha. i would of never of known this without the forum. If you look in the behaviour bit theres a sticky thread at the top on behaviour thats typical of behaviour and some thats not, have a read its really useful and the support on this forum has been amazing. I really wouldnt worry though it was probably a spot of jealously, craig does it at me sometimes the cheeky begger hahaha x
