There was a poorly wild bunny in the garden this morning, we were going to take it to the emergency vet but it has died before we managed to get it there. At least it isnt suffering any more, its upset me because it was such a poor little thing, so I thought it deserved a post on here 8...

Have you got any bunnys yourself...?

Hop free little bunny...

Awww probably a victim of the worst man made disease in the whole world Mixi ..... it makes me so mad that we (as a human race) did that :)>>>

Deffo if you have rabbits make sure they are up to date on vaccinations!

Sleep well little one ... R.I.P. xxxxxxx

I think it was mixi. Yes we have bunnies but they haven't been out over the winter months, just running in the house, and we have sterilised all our clothes that we were wearing and sprayed everything with steriliser, and got some anti bacterial wash and stuff. They are actually due for their vaccines this month, so I will try and get them in tomorrow to be on the safe side. I felt so sorry for the poor little thing, Ive never seen an aminal in such a bad state before, I agree its awful that bunnies still have to suffer because of people.

what's mixi? mallethead can piggies get it?
:{

its myxamotosis, man made illness to kill rabbits because they eat all the crops(think i am right) it is carried by fleas, so foxes can also carry it, but not suffer from it themselves, which is why domestic rabbits must be vaccinated, as they dont have to be in direct contact with a wild rabbit, fleas can travel on their own ,hope that makes sense.

Just awful 8...
Has been snowing here this morning - wonder how long the poor little mite had been loose ?/
Run free little bun, play safe x>>

R.I.P little bunny,

Hate how monstrous us as Humans can be sometimes!, really wish that everyone had a little care.

Yea, I think it was originally introduced into Australia to control population numbers and prevent the destruction of crops. It was then introduced to France by a bacteriologist to rid his private estate of rabbits, killing of a huge number of animals and the disease spread through france, eventually it was illegally used in the UK, hence we have the disease. Before it was made illegal people used to leave dead mixi buns in rabbit warrans as a way of clearing their estates! Horrid!

We humans can be horrible! :(

I found a wild rabbit in neighbours garage today, it's ill and likely to be mixi also.
Have put it in a box with hay and food though it's not eating, poor thing. Nothing much I can do for it. :(

Sorry.. Didn't mean to like your comment...
Take it to the vets... Prior warn them that you think it's mixi... They will put it to sleep... No point dragging out it's death... It's not a nice one...

Vets will put it to sleep i took a pigeon therethat couldnt fly. I believe your not allowed to inocculate domestic rabbits in australia as they dont want them to build up an immunity. It is c ruel evil disease :(
