Not that all the rescues of guineas sound like the plotters of bombings! LOL

Four sows all possibly pregnant some very suspicious and a boar arrived this evening. One tort and white on golden agouti rex and two agouti and white aby crosses (sows) and the boar is tort and white.

They have been living out all winter in runs so their poor feet need some attention as they have become a bit sore from the damp.

Two of the girls are very easy to handle and have been paired as they are mum and daughter and the other two girls have settled nicely in a pair.

The boy is on his own and is very skittish obviously has not been handled much.

They are is ok bodily condition other than the fact the girls have all littered before and are possibly expecting again.

None have names and the details of their ages were very vague but they are all between 1-2 years old the boar possibly younger than a yesr 8-10 months maybe.

I have some fuzzy quick intake shots but will get better pics in the morning.

Wishing you the best of luck! They sound very pretty; but rather likely to be pregnant again... :(

I really hope they aren't and are baggy from past litters but to be honest two are almost definate, one is a defnately maybe and one just feels very odd.

Lookinf forward to have a bit more thorough examination tomorrow.

Sounds like you are going to a few busy months ahead and just wanted to wish the mothers to be all the best!

Cant wait to meet them :) If I can be of any help just shout !

Ok now for pics

None of these piggies came with names so suggeations for the girls are welcome the boy has already earned the nick name of Mr Woooo as he just flies about when you are trying to catch him.

The wooo's are quite nutty but the others are very friendly piggies :)

All look like lovely pigs waiting to reach their gorgeous potential in your capable hands. I love white face brown bum and brown face white bum. Would be great names too if they weren't such a mouthful and confusing if you're looking at the wrong end. :))
Mmm.. names... what about Flitter and Flutter? Mrs Wooo looks like an old fashioned girl to me, maybe an Elsie, Clara or Daphne.
Best of luck with them all.

Oh bless them, and you - nothing is ever simple, is it? rolleyes

Have pm'd you.

Hope they are ok this morning, how they survived living out all winter I just don't know! mallethead

They are just gorgeous. Good luck to you and to them in getting up to full health and any babies too.

white face and brown face feel lumpy but wrong Teresa come over yesterday and concurred feels like lumps internally but most likely not a pregnancy found a cyst on the rex too. All three are off to the vets this morning (really want a club cards points scheme now!) and all the new arrivals are in quarantine anyway just hope it is nothing too serious.
There have been reports in the area of an infectious problem which can cause these symptoms but it was reported as internal and external abscess (hibiscrub showers and boil washes of clothes after dealing with these guineas) but no one has been able to tell me the name and apparently the prognosis is not good :( vets at 9.15 will update will let you all know how I get on.

Oh this thread has cheered me up no end. You are so funny Vikki, I love your names - Mr and Mrs Wooooooooooo. Really tickled me.

Mr Woooooooo is stunning - love him.

Brown face white bum with the familiar green leaking fluid (seen enough of that this week - its your turn ha ha) is stunning too.

Keep us posted.

Lol Helen seriously if you met him! Teresa has taken him to her to see if in time he might bond with a baby boar he had a bath and went into his hutch and has been doing laps every since Teresa is wondering how she will ever catch him again.

He is fine once you have hold of him though a really nice little boy.

Squeezing and popping it is just like being a teenager again and a bit interesting when I have a "bloomin pus" moment just as my OH is holding out the phone for me to talk to someone good job it was my friend who runs the wildlife sanctuary down the road or it would have been very different from the expected hello guinea pig re-homing norfolk type answer anyone would expect ....

I think we will be sponsoring my vets next holiday £210 in the last 9 days with more to come today I know you are in he same boat definately time to make a point for frequent visitor miles or something.

Mrs Woooooo feels 3-4weeks gone (alledgely by her son as he was the only male) but I have another sow here who is about he same who arrived last week so at least two will be due around the same time.

babys names: neeeeooooooow zoooooooooooom and whooooooooosh are on the cards

Back from vets everyone on baytril even if the cysts clear the piggies may be carriers passing it on to whom ever they live with vet is talking £140 for a biopsy and lab test to identifiy the problem.
I feel a phone call to vedra coming on....

I managed to catch Mr Woo - eventually :)) You're dead right, Vikki he's really cuddly once caught and sat in arms without even a struggle. Really hoping for some good news from Vedra.......................

Awaiting response form vedra for a confirmation of a saturday morning appointment looks like a road trip for these piggies.

Off to the CCT this morning 4 hour round trip but hopefully it will shed some light on exactly what is wrong with these piggies and how best to treat them.

Turned out it took a bit longer getting there thanks to road works..

The three girls have stayed with vedra to have their cysts removed and one with ovarian cysts is being treated.

Definately not infectious so all clear of any bacterial infections :))

Vikki you do seem to have your hands full this weather along with everyone else! Adleast you got some good news :)!

Another long day for you. Good news for the treatment. Hope everyone keeps getting stronger. Big glass of wine tonight? :(|)
