COVID-19 They want everyone in our town with or without symptoms to be tested next week 😳

my friends grandma lives in Barnsley, she told me today that they have the army in Barnsley testing for asymptomatic people :yikes: sounds like its a bit worse there than here!
Don't panic, the army are setting up many of the mobile pop up test centres, it looks a bit alarming with all the chaps in camo gear and berets but all they do is check your details, hand you a test, wait while you do it, then take it off you afterwards- piggy daddy had his test done like this at a drive through test site at a golf course last sunday, and I've seen the army chaps running a mobile test centre in the carpark behind the sports centre when I've walked past to get to the park too, nothing to worry about! :)

My daughter also did a home test this week as she too had a cough and flu like symptoms and is a careworker, so we have the full experience in our extended family! The home test takes a bit longer to process, my daughter said the worst bit was having to get up so early when she felt so poorly to make sure it was done fresh and ready to be collected at 8am on Wednesday! Both her and piggy daddy tested negative and both of them feel absolutely fine a few days after getting their cough and flu symptoms so there is clearly a naughty respiratory virus in Liverpool that isnt Covid going about trying to worry us all :) Liverpool seems to have a lot of cases but when you think its like 50 or 60 positive tests out of a population of half a million people it isnt really a big number, and if we keep testing and isolating and being sensible with masks and social distancing it will keep going down hopefully...

The procedure for us asymptomatic lot for home tests is weird, no courier like when i had symptoms we test then drop at a designated priority postbox :yikes: I'm sure we will be negative and I'm glad your hubby and daughter feel better! but happy to test if it helps control this awful disease! a few seconds of discomfort and worst case 2 weeks at home is definitely nothing to be worried about in the scheme of things. though I'm not looking forward to swabbing my 4 and 7 year olds i must admit :/ xx

Yes my daughter decided not to test 15 month old baby Alfie...!

My two year old isn't being tested as there's a limit how many per house, however she's also not left the house really where as my 7 year old went to the supermarket with me to pick birthday cupcakes and my 4 year old came to pets at home/the vets and a school transition day 🙄 so I should probably test those two, if we're all negative we can assume the 2yo is too xx

Yes I think older kids should be tested if they go out and about or go to school, but like your 2yo baby Alfie only goes from home to the childminder who lives alone and doesnt have any other kids at the moment, then home again, and the childminder only lives on the same street, so he doesnt meet many people!
I think testing in hospitals has become very routine now too, my old Mum who has lung disease has been in hospital 3 times since March and now its all very organised, the ambulance staff are all suited up in extreme PPE, new patients are isolated and tested on arrival at hospital, hospital wards have no visitors and vulnerable respiratory patients get a separate room where possible, then they are tested again 24 hours before discharge- Mum must have been tested at least 6 times now at the hospital, but so far she's stayed safe! :)

They don't usually go out and about, the school transition was only 3kids, 3 parents and 3 teachers and the shops were both one time things were still trying to stay home where possible I just think I should test them given there's the opportunity and children are more likely to be asymptomatic 😁 they did wear masks when out but almost noone else did 🙄 yes I think testing on admission is a very good idea and pleased your mum's OK 😁 xx

We are getting ready for the vaccine that is about to come out sometime this year.
Some people have been saying they will get the vaccine the moment it comes out. I am mentally getting myself ready for the vaccine too.
