I have just got my piggies out of the hutch and noticed that Christian has a bit of a runny nose. It's a bit shiny that's all nothing major and I can't hear any heavy breathing, He has an appointment for 4pm this afternoon. It def wasn't there last night when I put them to bed. Where he is an outside piggy I need to get this sorted ASAP.
 
I hope he gets on ok at the vets, it could be allergy related if it is just his nose but best to get him checked like you are doing.

Well I've just got back from the vets. Christian has not got a uri thankfully! It turns out that one of his eyes inside is swollen and the vet reckons it was his tears coming out of his nose as they couldn't drain properly.:yikes: She has put him on metacam so the swelling should calm down. I'm so pleased I was dreading a uri as I know how difficult they are to clear.
 
Thanks everyone! No idea why his eye is swollen. But he has had a problem with one of his eyes ever since he was born.

Awwww Christian, the poor little floofball, crying thru your nose sounds horrible. Hope he gets well soon.
 
Ahhh poor Christian, healing vibes from the girls &I for a full &speedy recover :nod:
Did the vet check his eye for foreign objects, or his mouth &teeth for problems that might cause the eye to bulge?

The vet gave him a good going over. I've not seen Rachel the Vet before but she was very good! (I mentioned how she was comfortable with piggies and seemed very confident in handling them and she said she'd had them when she was at Uni and how she missed them). She didn't know why his eye was how it was and didn't know the cause but said that a course of Metacam should sort out the problem. Rachel the Vet asked me if I had any Metacam at home, which unfortunately I didn't as mine had just gone over the 6 months which was unfortunate, so she gave me some more. Why couldn't Christian have had this problem a few weeks ago when the Metacam was still OK?

poor little one, keep an eye on him and if the eye gets any worse get back to the vets. Did she take a look in in with the light?

Yep! She put those special eye drops in that turn an eye ulcer a funny colour and he didn't have one.

Thanks @sport_billy I love him :love: as I do all my piggies! Though maybe the ever beautiful Betsy just a bit more than the others but :shh: don't let them know that! I really shouldn't have favourites. But Betsy is just so :love::love::luv::luv::wub::wub:
