Going to have to squeeze in a vet appointment sometime in the next day or two as I suspect Frodo has another UTI, unfortunately I suspect he's had it a while now as he has been drinking more water for about a week now. I had put it down to the rising heat as there were no other symptoms and by no means was he getting through an excessive amount of water. However, last night I discovered some reddish/pink stains on the fitch and also noticed that the cage has a lot more pee in it than usual (although that could be my new puppy pads being less absorbant). Finally, I heard a wee squeak out of Frodo last night, I thought he was just upset at me messing in the cage (I was changing the hay) but putting it with everything else I'm suspicious now.

Typically though it's turned up just as I've got 2 full days of work to do around the 5 months summer I'm mostly free! Will be phoning the vet and trying to get last possible appointment for today or first one tomorrow, worst case scenario Saturday morning. I'm just worried though that I've already discovered it late and so worry about any further delay to his treatment. Same as last time there is no change to his behaviour at all (other than the drinking a little more than usual). Also, I'll be going on holiday next Thursday so really need to get treatment started tonight otherwize I'll not be able to complete it and there's no-one else who I could get to do it for me.

Argh! So worried

Am sorry he has another UTI. How was it treated last time? with Septrin?

Erm, I think so - I can't remember exactly but it wasn't Baytril. I've managed to get an appointment for Saturday morning but put name down for cancellation tonight but unlikely to get that. I'm hoping I can figure out work times for tomorrow and see if the morning appointment is still there by the time I get the details. Otherwise it looks like the boys will have to go into boarding while I'm away.

Thanks everyone. I've managed to get an appointment for this evening (provided I don't have to work late and miss it). Will let you all know how we get on. I'm a little concerned cos last night Frodo sneezed about 5 times whilst eating his pepper. I'm hoping it's nothing and was just the pepper making him sneeze :/ I haven't noticed sneezing outwith this incident however due to work and an emergency with a friend I've not been around much the last 2 days so I could be missing it.

Not 100% whether there's a problem but been prescribed potassium citrate as a precaution and I've to keep a close eye on him and look out for any more blood in the urine - if more warning signs appear then he's to go in for an x-ray.

How does this sound @helen105281? Have you heard of this treatment before? Supposedly it is used to dissolve kidney stones, doesn't always work but is harmless to try it. She didn't do a urine test because she couldn't get any out of them, she didn't seem too concerned though, she did say they sometimes keep piggies in until they can get a sample from them but didn't suggest it was required in this case.

I've said kidney stones, but I'm thinking now she maybe said bladder stones. I really can't remember - I was soo tired by that point from a really hectic few days and no sleep! Annoying though as I usually remember these things with ease.
