Daisy is 6 and a half years old. Recently I've noticed she doesn't respond to the sounds I make when they get their veg or the fridge opening.

For example, she'll be tucking in to the hay and I will rustle bags etc but she won't pay any attention until her cage mate comes running over and up at the bars, then she realises it's food time and comes running over.

I think she's going deaf or is already.
She's very happy and doesn't seem to bother her one bit.

Anyone else have a similar situation?

Yep. My last boar fell out with his cagemates and I couldn't work out why at first.

After watching him we thought it was because he couldn't hear them coming up to him and so they made him jump and his reaction was to nip/bite.

He also reacted less to noises I made. I wasn't sure whether that was his hearing or if he was mellowing with age.

bless her, it certainly does sound that way doesn't it. We had a blind piggy, they do adapt very well.

None of my oldies seemed to lose their hearing, but Sundae went blind in her old age and adjusted quite well. Poor thing, she'll be the last to get a snack if she can't hear the crinkle!
