I have a pair of healthy 3 year old boars and there is no reason why they shouldn't live many more years. But I have been thinking about what might happen when one of them eventually goes to the big guinea pig cage in the sky.

At that point I would probably be left with one lonely, and probably elderly, boy. I don't know what I would do then. I am fond of the boys but I don't want any more after these two. There are many reasons for this but it is mostly an allergy problem which causes me big problems. I will stick to hamsters and fish in future.

I feel silly worrying about this now but it will be an issue one day and I don't know what I'll do.

maybe someone else would take him on to pair up with another pig or maybe he`d be happy on his own.
dont feel silly worrying about it ive only had my boys a week and ive already been thinking about what would happen if one died,i think id try and pair him up with another pig

The only "difficulty" I would be prepared for, when one passes away, is how much the remaining boar might pine for his past friend. Some pigs don't pine, but some take it quite badly.

Consider what you would do in both cases - maybe keep him until he passes if he is happy on his own, or if he does not do well on his own then think about handing him to either a rescue, who can pair him up and rehome him, or see if a friend has a single boar to pair him up with.
