Hi. I have recently adopted three rescue male guinea pigs. I've had pigs before but never males so it's all new to me. They're brothers who have always lived together, not sure how old but probably around six months so definitely in the 'stroppy teenager' age bracket! They have never actually fought each other (no need for towel throwing!) but they 'squabble' most of the time. They're in a very large C&C pen with lots of tunnels, boxes etc so plenty of room to get away from each other but they seem to seek each other out to 'argue' more often than not. Everything I've read tells me that their behaviour is normal. But everything I've read also tells me you shouldn't have more than two boars together. My only concern is what's best for them but right now I'm not sure what that is. Has anyone else had three males together? Do they ever settle down?

How big is your C&C cage? I wouldn't have them in anything less than 2 x 5 to be honest. I wouldn't get too worried if they are not lunging at each other like they might draw blood.

Ive had quite a few trios and never had any problems. Well I had to make my recent trio into two pairs (brought a four pig) but this was only because I put a hormonal 6 month old in with two 2 1/2 year old brothers and he was just getting a bit too much for them (excited) he wasnt aggressive or anything but the older pair had just lost their friend who was older than them so they werent impressed when i gave them a youngster.

As long as no blood is drawn they should be fine - their all at the hormonal stage so their will be plenty of chasing, rumbling, marking, humping and squeaking.

How big is the C & C? boars do need a lot of space
