Last week I noticed that titan (my little himmy baby) was looking a bit .. off .. just not his usual self and he didn't bound over to me and beg for food in his usual way .
Further to this he had some really runny poo so I immediately took him to the vet not once but three times in all as each day the poo was getting worse and worse and worse .
He was barely eating and ignored all fresh in his bowl so we did critical care every four hours to keep his weight up and now he has antibiotics twice a day and Fibreplex , oh and he had an injection of metacam too.

This morning I came into the guinea pig room and who is zooming about bouncing around ?!?! My little guy ! After I'd got the antibiotics down his neck (with great difficultly as he was wiggling like mad) he ran off and went back to his little house .

About three mins later he comes out and grabs fresh food and drags it back into the house. His bum is clean (yes he's WHITE can you imagine the amount of gentle wiping and washing I've had to do?!) and there is NO runny POO at all in the cage !

You never really know how much you miss there normal selves until they're sick .

Happy days of course he's still doing the FULL course of antis and I'm keeping a close eye. But all in all I'm very happy !

Honestly I couldn't sleep , felt constantly worried , scared for him (that it may have been a bloackage or sludge issues) .

Hope all your clan are behaving themselves especially eddi!

Such a relief. It's such a worry when they are poorly.
I love it when you've been syringe feeding a poorly pig and they start to fight the syringe and start to grab solids as if to prove a point that they don't need your help any more.
Let's hope Titan goes from strength to strength.

@Adelle I know how much work you put into fudge now !
Luckily fudge doesn't need syringe fed so that's something for us! We have an agreement that if she needs a little topping up due to some blips in he health and will eat some cc from the spoon, then we can do that. If she doesn't want to eat due to her current problems, refused syringe feed and there was nothing we could do for her then we would be letting her go to sleep at that point. Hopefully we don't reach that stage anytime soon !x

@Adelle me either I love reading about fudges days ! She's so clever when she tells you when she wants a drink ! X
