awww Ive been sitting by the cage and when I'm there they keep coming up to the side and sniffing, to see if i have anything. Duke litterally puts his paws on the side of the cage now, its so cute -so i go and cut them some cucumber - and - as I'm closing the fridge door I hear wheeks! I mean, proper piggy wheks! This is the first time ive heard them wheek since they've been here! They were so excited! I'm really gonna have to try and control myself otherwise I'm gonna have little fat piggys!

Just to recap - how much food are they ment to have a day? I have a funny feeling they're playing me cause they are acting hungry all the time! They've had a huge bowl of veggys today aswell as treat veg throughout the day, and their pellets, which are now all gone. If i keep feeding will they keep eating? do they get full?

I have only had mine since Friday but I just refilled their dry food this morning and have been giving them a small dish of cucumber and brocolli each day. I also gave them a few strawberrys and a bit of apple on Saturday with carrot, tomatoes and celery then threw the rest away a few hours later when it started to look dry.

I think you're fine whilst they are young.

Guidelines are for adult pig 50g dry food per day, unlimited hay and a cup of veggies each a day. That's actually quite alot.

I have 6 in one cage and fill up a big bowl to the top every day and they finish that. For the 6 of them it should be 300g dry food but it's not that much in the bowl.

Have fun with it!

You can split the veg into several lots (about 1 cup mornings, 1 cup evenings and one cup treats etc...)

Hay and grass unlimited; pellets I give one small handful per adult pig per day.

my pigs arn't babys though lisa :)

Ok, well I'm giving them plenty! They just like food I guess!

A guinea pig that doesn't like its food is seriously ill! I have had greedy guts who were sitting in front of me and trying to hypnotise me into bringing them more with some huge Oliver Twist eyes 10 minutes after stuffing themselves! rolleyes As my husband says: the last meal is always FIRMLY in the past once it's down the gullet...

What you are dealing with is a fur wrapped black hole with a big squeak and some soulful eyes attached!

I gave them each a strawberry earlier and they looked at it very suspisiously, and havent touched it! I thought they'd love them! Lol! But bring the parsley out and they will be your friend forever lol x

You just have to try and find out what they like...

I found that strawberries wer too strong in taste for most of my piggies. they like the green tops, though!

When I first got mine, they wouldn't go near the food so I left them a chunk of cucumber and 2 strawberries then went out, then when I got back I saw some cute little teeth marks in both! :<>

They go crazy for brocolli, I can't wait to try the herbs on them!

Hi Candywishes, hope all is going well.

I had to laugh when I read the post, because these guineas really can eat! :))

and they really have the cute thing down too, where you cant resist, especially when Duke puts his paws up on the side of the cage and stands on his back legs, its probably how he got so fat in the first place! "):(|)

I used to give them unlimited hay and pelletts and then vegies twice a day. I dont know if Jools gave them unlimited pellets too? They will probably just eat more hay if not which I'm sure will be a good thing.

Parsley has always been the favourite, and i think i tried them on strawberries once before without any luck. They used to love a little piece of apple or melon as an occasional treat too x)
