Hello guys,
I wanted to post this for as I needed questions answered about bonding my two new baby guinea pigs with a older one I have had for three years.

Recently we have introduced them wrong, as they still need to be settled in, now one of my guinea pigs(Persie) does not get on with the older one(chubby Monroe) but the other little one is just curious and wanting to know everything.

How should I deal with this situation? Every night they chatter their teeth at one another - they have a split cage.

Also should I introduce Monroe to the curious one first b cause they seem to get on perfectly.

Chubby got bitten by Persie for Persie's own protection.

I think they do not get on is because Persie used to be the leader over the other one and now they need to find which place they are at now.

Any suggestions on bonding or getting them to become friends? That would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Hi and welcome

If there is still teeth chattering, I would leave be! Two dominant boars will never gel. There is no magic trick that can change personalities and dislikes - and they are the make or break of any bond. Once serious bites to the face or rump have happened, piggies won't go back again.

Boar trios fail more often than not at the best of times; balancing three personalities is very tricky. If sub-adults are involved, the fail rate goes a lot higher. With three baby boars it is about 90% once they hit the hormonal teenage months between 4-14 months.

Keep your boys as they are, with a divider so Chubby still gets round the clock stimulation. Please don't mess your submissive little boy around and put the existing bond at risk. At the worst, you can end up with three single boars.

If you want to find Chubby a boar companion, then please see whether you can date him at a rescue under expert supervision so you come home with a new friend only if acceptance has happened.

I am sorry that I haven't got any better news. It is never great when our own wishes for happy piggies wreck on the rock of reality. Piggies have very much their own ideas as to who they want to be with. :(

I agree completely with @Wiebke ’s advice to you. You have a situation that will not work as a trio. Best advice is to keep to a pair and a single.
