Hi everyone,

Since getting my guinea pigs, I have noticed that there are sooo many different brands of timothy hay around, and its difficult to know which are the best and why. :{

I just wondered if anyone has any advice about why they vary so much in price, and which are the ones to go for!

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,

x

I am not sure what is the best to use for piggies. I first started with P@H hay for along time but it got cut finner and finner everytime i went to get a bag, so I have started to get a bag from just my local petshop which my piggies love its not a named brand and it is actually cheaper :x but they squeek like mad as soon as i come near them with the bag to top them up :))

My lot have either the dust free hay that Pigmad linked ^ or good green local farm meadow hay (with long strands for wearing piggies teeth down) for diving into, then they have different Oxbow hay in hay balls as they are the 'posh' more expensive type. The Oxbow Timothy and Orchard grass hay is their favourites, oh and they are partial to Oat hay too, either the Oxbow or Burns. I think I've bought every hay on the market and my Piggies have decided they like these the best. The Oxbow range are very high quality hays.
Why not try some sample bags and see what you and your Piggies think? http://www.animalmagicpetsupplies.c...String=timothy oxbow&Page=2&OrderBy=ListPrice

I've tried the sample bags of various kinds of hay at animal magic and the favourites were the Oxbow Timothy and Orchard Grass. The OG smells absolutely lovely and I had great customer service and delivery.

Need to order some more soon. :)

The hay I have been using is Meadow Hay its thick strands which they love and smells so fresh, and it is dust free. I am glad I found the petshop I am using to get the hay from as they much prefer it to the p@h stuff and they isn't many other pet shops near to me to choose from.
