Tips on getting a baby GP to stop biting!

Hi I mentioned on a previous thread that I am going to be adopting a female baby piggy from a friend, the thing is shes quite a biter. When ever shes held she nips and actually bites too and it actually quite hurts (not got her yet as only 4 weeks old but I visit her often). It worrys me as I have 2 kids who love holding the piggys and though my son doesnt mind the nipping my daughter is becoming afraid to hold her. I know that the GP is only little and probably scared, but we've tried giving her nice traets when holding her and even holding mum while holding her but with not much sucess. Can anyone give any advice on how to teach her not to bite?

She wont stop biting untill she doesnt feel threatened when being held, The best way to get her to trust you is to hold her in a cosey, so she cant reach your hands to bite. She will become used to lap time, then eventually not feel the need to bite you. (i have a biter, it worked with him, he no longer tries to bite me, (he used to climb into my top and bite and any flesh he could find! however he still likes to chew the towel i hold him on *shrugs*)
 
I'm afraid I don't know of any magic cures, just time - little ones tend to grow out of it. Anyone who is scared of being nipped should wait until they don't nip anymore and the braver handlers just carry on giving them lots of gentle fuss so that they eventually learn that being handled isn't something that requires constant nipping! :)

I dont really have any advice I'm afraid, most of the young ones i got grew out of the nibbling stage. All but one, who continually bites without warning, and occationally, very hard. All piggies have different personalities, I'm sure she will come round once she settles in her new home.

I have three wee ones that are four wheeks old today. The male has become quite comfortable with daily handling, but his sisters SCREAM bloody murder every time I pick them up. They have all been handled in the same fashion by me since they were about an hour old! I think sometimes it depends on their personalities and as per the previous posts....time. I am hoping that my girlies chill out soon since I feel like I'm missing out on valuable bonding time with them...but we are taking it slow and building trust. Good luck!
 
Quick update: I was cuddling the pups' mum, Ingrid last night and had my OH hand me her babies one by one into my arms. They wheeked tons, but no screaming while they were being held. I had the OH put their mummy back into the cage, leaving just the girls in my arms and they stayed with me, and both stayed calm without trying to squirm off of me immediately (which is the usual). After about two-three minutes they BOTH started licking my hand *KISSES!* and only became loud when I knew it was time to return them to the cage. This was monumental. I've been patiently waiting a month for them NOT to hate me hahaahaha! So, time and loads of patience....she'll come around. :)
 
Mine tend to nip if you tickle them low down on their backs,bhind the ears and round the back of the neck is best.Might help if you do that!
 
My piggie Dillon is 1 and still bites me all the time. Both my pigs are very tame and come over to me when I go into the room but Dillon just likes to test everything with his teeth. It doesn't hurt unless he nips my neck when out for cuddles rolleyes
