Hi all,
I just want to know if it would be okay to give my piggies a slice of tomato? The cherry ones cut in half so one half each. They have had a lot of high calcium foods this week so would it be best to wait until next week?

They can have tomato but only occasionally. It is too acidic to be fed too often and can cause mouth sores. Half of one each is absolutely fine though. I always wash out the pips. Mine love them as a treat!

That haven’t had them yet so I just wanted to see if they liked it

@Piggies&buns 'half a tomato' means half a cherry tomato. ;)

Tomatoes are actually a fruit and should be treated as fruit - i.e. they are a special treat in small quantities no more than twice a week to prevent lip infection (cheilitis), which can be potentially fatal depending of what bug is getting through the sores in the lips that are caused by the acidity in tomato and fruit.

I sometimes feed half a cherry tomato each, my old boars used to love them. I looked behind their cage one day, and found loads of pips stuck to the wall.. How 🤔
