Hi, yesterday i bonded two guinea pigs together and i thought i'd give them a treat to celebrate. So i walked up a hill near my place and picked dandelions (since i dont know much about forage) and washed them then put them in their cage. I watched as my older guinea pig scoffed the lot not leaving any for my new piggie (who doesn't like them anyway)
I totally forgot he hadn't had any dandelions in ages and i think hes feeling the effect today. He wasn't really wanting any veg and looks uncomfortable while pooping. I think hes constipated and he was a bit hunched up a few seconds before pooping. I came back to check on him later on and he was eating hay fine and he had some cucumber.
I feel terrible and i'll never feed too much at one time ever again ( i should have remembered🙁).
I was wondering if this would hopefully pass by with a reduce of vegetables and plenty water and hay. Is there anything i can do to help him or should i just watch him over the next few days and seeing if he goes back to normal? xx

It would be best to take him off of all veg for 24-48 hours to give his system time to settle. Keep a close eye on him, calling a vet if things deteriorate. Introduce veggies slowly when he is feeling better.

Thank you for the advice, i feel terrible for not remembering. I’ll stop the vegetables and watch him closely.

Don't beat yourself up.
We all are guilty of over feeding our poop machines at times.
I'm sure things go ok. x
