So Gus and Walter have cleaned me out until payday. Because of this I've had to cut down their veg. They still get all the vitamin C they need...just more dried food. They have loads of hay and are running around popcorning (as if they know I'm typing about them) my worry is that because they're not getting their usual amount of veg for a few days, they are continuously at their water bottles. Usually, they never bother much with water and now they're at it every ten minutes. Is this because they're eating more dry food and hay or could there be another problem?

It's probably because they are eating more dried food. A lot of piggies take most of their water intake from veggies so if they are temporarily having less veg they will need to be getting their water elsewhere. I have a piggy who doesn't like veg with the exception of carrot and he drinks tons as he only really eats dry food and hay so I wouldn't worry to much unless the drinking persists when they restart veg again.

If they have been off veg completely then please reintroduce it slowly when you start again so you don't cause them tummy problems with too much too quickly. Try the reduced section too. If it looks like in a condition you would eat it, then it's ok for them too. Farm shops can be cheaper for veg too.

They still get a couple of leaves of romaine lettuce, a bit of carrot (usually a bribe to stop them rumbling over their favourite hide) and parsley or coriander. Unfortunately, we don't have any farm shops (which is beyond me as we are surrounded by farms). Couple of days and they'll be back to their little mountains of veg. Paws crossed the water bottle will get a break! :) thanks

I would go out on a dandelion hunt in your local area they love piles of the stuff and its free, just give it a quick wash :)
