Little Piggles
Senior Guinea Pig
I came across this poem whilst searching on a wesite called redbubble.com for T-Shirts for Simon's birthday (of all things!) I searched for 'guinea pig' to see if there were any cool piggies t-shirts and this came up.
It was written by a lady called Pat Lucas who was losing her little pig to cancer. Tissues at the ready, it's called So Much Love
I came to you a baby small,
A ball of fluff, so scared,
You loved me and you comforted me,
You showed how much you cared
Throughout my life you gave me love,
No matter what I’d done
Sometimes I wasn’t very good
I was the naughty one
As time went by, we settled in,
We got to know each other
And through the toils of daily life,
We’d comfort one another
You told me things that no-one knows,
I didn’t betray your trust
I’d kiss your lips or lick your hand,
To love you, was a must
But now my days are growing dark,
My life is nearly over
Please don’t think you’re doing wrong,
You don’t want me to suffer
Just take me to the friendly vet,
The one I nipped when younger
And he will help me on my way,
I don’t want to linger longer
There are lots of friends I need to find,
They call me from the ridge
There is no pain; I’m going to play,
When I cross the Rainbow Bridge
