I’m looking for some information on interactive toys for my boys! I have give them a giant cardboard box and they loved playing in it but also peed in it so I had to toss it out. I don’t want them to start getting bored so can someone give me some good things that you guys get for your piggies to play with? Even cheap ideas work too as long as they won’t be bored! Thank youuuuu! Pugsley and Wednesday thank you in advance 😊

Just keep replacing the cardboard boxes!

The only ‘toy’ I buy for mine is a hay cube. There is not much point in any of the other commercial toys as mostly they just get ignored. I use forage, veg and pellets mixed into hay for enrichment also.

I get a cardboard tray (think the type soft drink bottles would come in), place their food into it, like peppers or cucumber, and then cover it over with hay. The goblins love it, it gives them something to do for a while lol.

Thanks everyone! Looks like the census says that cardboard is the way to go! When I had the box I cut out holes in it and put some hay it is, I swear they thought it was the best thing ever. I have put paper towel rolls in there too but they didn’t really do anything with them, I will definitely try putting hay and food in there. I have a tunnel but they either have outgrown it or they got bored of it, I rarely ever see them in it. Maybe I will get them a new one today. It was a taco tunnel that I had, they seemed more into it when they were little and now they go in it to hide from me. I’m thinking maybe a larger one they can run through would be best!

All of the above. Also I occasionally hang treats so they have to work for them. A wicker ball always gets well received and in regards to tunnels, you can't go wrong with the bendy log ones. They are also good for wedging bits of cucumber etc into the gaps.IMG20231225103413.webp

For the cardboard boxes, you can cut the flaps off the top then turn it upside down so it has no bottom to get soaked and gross.
As others have said, the standard favourite for many pigs is a toilet roll tube stuffed with hay, something about it is just amazing to their little brains!:xd:

That’s actually really smart! It got so bad from them peeing in it 😂 I will definitely try toilet paper rolls, they didn’t seem interested in the paper towel rolls

Every guinea pig I have ever owned has loved a tunnel, and these are particular favourites for my current trio. You do have to replace them after a while as they inevitably get peed on, but they last pretty well.

I also put different types of hay inside their hay trays - timothy hay topped off with meadow hay, for example - along with dried forage, to encourage them to explore.

Mine absolutely love the low-set loft and ramp in their C&C - I know lofts can't count towards actual floor space for guineas, and you have to be careful not to set the ramp so it's too steep, but ours has definitely been a major source of enrichment and enjoyment for our pigs. It's probably the best 'toy' they have!
