My daughters had thought they had trained the piggies to jump onto the mezzanine, out of the way, for the twice-daily replacement of old newspaper and hay for new.

Nope.

The piggies have trained all of us to give them a little treat whenever they fancy, by jumping onto the mezzanine, putting their little paws on the balcony and looking out towards us (something they never did before) and just waiting. Patiently waiting. They don't even need to bother wheeking.

I would certainly give a piggy that cute a treat.
Probably 2 - 3

And your ramp is amazing.
Thank you!
I figure all that jumping up and down counteracts all the extra readigrass calories … Once *we* cottoned on to what was going on, hoomans being very slow, we considerably reduced the amount they are given each time!

Oh very clever piggies indeed! You wouldn’t mind showing me the full cage would you? Don’t believe I’ve seen it

I'm actually hoping to be able to post some photos of the hutch soon. It has been in my shed-which-was-converted-into-my-study-which-then-became-their-luxury-winter-quarters … and is soon to go back outside, I hope. I have, with my husband's help, been building a hutch extension and when it is all together I will post! I call it my lock-down extension because, unable to buy any materials, we have been making it from every single scrap of everything that was left-over from the conversion of the shed-to-study years ago, as well as anything I have been able to scrounge from my parents' garage (when I go around with a food drop). Almost finished now and it's looking rather posh, though I say so myself. My husband says that it far exceeds guinea-pig building regulations.... So watch this space.
