Teenage Guinea Pig
I made this enrichment toy for the boars today and I thought I’d share it in case anyone else wanted to make it for their pigs.
The good thing about this is you can make it from practically any (safe) cardboard object!
———————————————
Supplies:
A cardboard object (Toilet tube, box, etc.)
Banana
Treats
Oats
Forage
(Amounts vary depending on the object you are covering)
———————————————
How To:
First, mash the banana into a smooth(ish) paste and spread onto the cardboard
Second, make a mix of the oats, treats and forage. If the forage has large pieces in it crumble them a little so that they will stick better.
Third, roll the banana covered cardboard in the mix until covered completely. Apply or take away banana from the cardboard if you find you have put on too much or too little.
Then place somewhere to dry a little.
And… ta-da!
NOTE:
Do make sure to check for any tape or stickers on cardboard boxes beforehand.
Also make sure you keep track of how much banana you are using in case it is more than a safe amount for your guinea pigs to consume, and ration if necessary. This DIY will count as your guinea pigs weekly fruit portion.
Hope someone enjoys making this!
(And their piggies enjoy eating it!)
Speaking of which,
I’d love to see your photos if you make this!
