Hello!

So I posted a thread last week about some symptoms my piggy Syllabub was showing; I suspected mites and the vet agreed, prescribing her some Xeno 450. I'm now looking at treating the other four piggies, despite them not really showing any symptoms.

My boyfriend has found a 5ml, 1% Ivermectin spot on treatment on eBay. It says to treat using one drop per 500g. My piggies are about 900g each (with the exception of the baby and Syllabub who is already being treated). Would they have one drop (which feels like underdosing) or two (which feels like overdosing) to treat them?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I'd call your vet for advice on dosing, especially with baby pigs, just in case.

Please check with your vet which dosage and frequency would be OK at that lower concentration. Make sure that you can give him all the current weights of your guinea pigs (very important especially with youngsters!) so he can work out the correct dosage for each of them.

You will have to do a full intervall course with all guinea pigs in contact with an acute mange mites guinea pig to prevent them from an outbreak.
