I'm always trying to find out and try new ideads for treats and toys for my little clan. You can buy quite a good range now in the shops that are natural and no sugar or natural chew toys.
Have you got any suggestions or things that you make yourself?
I was thinking of buying a dehydrator and making things that way, has anyone had any luck with this?
Would be great to hear your hints and tips!

I have never seen on sale treats sugar/flour/oat/seeds free... sugar is also in potatoes, bread, flour, molassa and so on... and reading the labels I don't see anything good. Home-made treats have the same problem: you need some flour/oat/other thing not good for pigs for making a sort of a "pellet". Anyway, there are online some recipe and you need only a oven.
Dehydrator is good for a lot of recipes and people who follow a different diet, but dehydrated food is not that healthy for pets prone to urinary problems as piggies are. I know that you are talking of a single treat, of course, but a piece of dehydrated apple is a concentrate of sugar.
You can pick up some treat walking around your area; there are wonderful wild herbs now, safe trees with branches which you can offer them as a chew toy. Grass too, is the best food for them and there is a huge variety all around. Some leaf, too...
You could also cut a lot of wild grass, make it dry and then make a little "pool" of this hay-grass using a large bowl. Piggies enjoy jumping into the hay :D
I have no great ideas, as you can see... but piggies play also with a pile of towels on the floor...

I just use herbs or some apple as treats. I bought the piggies a parsley log for christmas last year but haven't given it to them as yet lol. They also love oxbow peppermint or bell pepper treats too but they have molasses in them so they get one as a treat after their weekly weigh as apparently they feel like i've tried to kill them or something lol.
