I did a whole assignment on training my guinea pigs tricks for college. I'm in chemistry class right now but I'll explain what I did.
I taught my piggy Crispin to stand up on his back legs to reach food and how to spin in a circle. They both work on the same principle, really. Firstly find something that they like, mine was just some lettuce. Hold the lettuce in from of his nose and let him have it, make sure they are small pieces. Hold it in front of his nose and let him have it. Every few pieces move the lettuce slightly higher. It may take a while for your piggy to learn to balance himself and stretch up and reach the final piece. Do a little bit every day at the same time, and make this your "training time."
For the circle, it is the same thing, but hold the lettuce to one side of his face. Make sure its the SAME side EVERY time you do it. Every few goes, move the lettuce slightly further to the side until he has to turn around 180 to get to it, then go the toher 180 until he can do a 360. I added in a command, so every time he turned, i said "circle." Keep them short and sweet, not to be confused with anything else you say. Eventually he will learn that when you say "circle" he has to spin in a circle to get a treat.
It might seem complicated but its not! It took my Crispin a week each to learn these tricks.
