I have, for the last week, been using anew haybox, called Nibble & Gnaw. It's a first-cut Canadian timothy hay. They also sell second cut. So far, I am impressed. Some of the reviews grumbled about the plastic bag inside the box, however this is biodegradable and so no problem I don't think.

Gibson loves it, it has loads of seed heads which are his fave!

I get so confused/lost when it comes to hay, and my last batch from Dust Free is still in the box, it was super woody and yellow. I did get a good bag from P@H once. So far so good with this one (and you can get it on Amazon, as well as direct from them!) :)

To be honest I find hay in general can be very variable.
I buy a bag/bale from the same supplier, and a month later the quality is totally different.
Plus I have had a few bags that look awful - dry, hard, stalky and the piggies and rabbits love it.
I have also opened bags that smell gorgeous (yes, I am a secret hay sniffer) and had the animals turn their noses up at it.

I would say a favourite here is Readigrass, though it’s expensive and I’m not sure if it’s recommended as a main hay source?
But yes, I’m with you on the hay sniffing!

:agr: My hay deliveries vary with each delivery. Sometimes the love the hay that I wouldn’t think they would like. I would never feed anything mouldy or dusty, but other than that my boys seem quite happy with the variation. I find the same with our horses, and their hay is even more varied from bale to bale. They very much let me know if they don’t like it 🙈 with 30 years in the horse industry, I’m very much a seasoned ‘hay sniffer’ 😂
