I think if you have a confident and experienced piggie vet to do the operation then you are doing your best to minimise the risks of complications. You can’t eliminate risks completely but then that’s the same as in life in general.
The issue as to why you feel so anxious is you are giving a healthy piggie an operation with all the risks associated, you wouldn’t feel half as anxious if that piggie was poorly and needed the operation to save its life.
 
Thank you for merging my thread & everybody’s input. I’m going to ring them up tomorrow and ask them a few questions to put my mind at ease, the vet I saw this time around was knowledgeable and said about the same as what I’ve read in the information pages on the forum. As someone said it is taking two healthy boys and putting them at (a very small) risk but still a risk nonetheless, she also mentioned Ozzy would probably be prescribed more baytril as a precaution after the operation as he’s had a few problems that needed baytril in the past
