'sex not known' WHAT? how could you not know urrgghh. I'm hoping they aren't male and female. I would certainly be tempted to take them

I'm terrible with things like this and if I didn't have my mum to say no I would personally buy all Guinea pigs for sale on these sites. I think if you feel like you could look after them and provide everything they need then go for it - they're not likely to get a better owner. Be prepared for them to be an opposite sex pair though, then babies!

Oh I can't take them on, don't have the space. I just can't understand how anyone can sell a pet without at least knowing whether they're a boy or a girl. Whoever buys them could be in for more than just a couple of piggies :(

Taken from sellers post'
'm looking to sell my baby guinea pigs.
They are black/brown in colour, not sure on their gender. They are very friendly, 15 weeks old, very loving animals. The reason I'm selling them is because I don't have the time to give them the attention they need, they need at least 1hr of play time every day (I have a young baby so its hard to juggle.)
For £60 (OR OFFERS CLOSE TO THIS) you will get the following:
2 very loving baby guinea pigs. '

No, there are hundreds of Guinea pigs on preloved and in need of rescue elsewhere, there's nothing remarkable about this situation. Paying for them only promotes the sale of them. If the seller does not know the sex then it's likely they will not have much knowledge of general care so these guineas may have health problems that you would need to treat. If they happen to be m/f pair or female babies who have been with a male then you may have to deal with pregnancies which are expensive in terms of basic care and potential vet care.

If you can contact the seller then it would be better to recommend a local rescue.

Thanks @BonBon2010 for not posting the link... :tu:

We certainly wouldn't buy these piggies, but may ask them to surrender these poor piggies to a reputable rescue. If you did buy them you would need to be prepared for some big shocks not just pregnancy, but underlying health issues. If they don't know what sex they are.. goodness knows what condition their in. Never seen a vet for example... Poor Poor Piggies..

Their cage in the photo looks very clean, and the one I can see looks ok, but photo's are just a snap moment in time.

Good lass, nice to see someone sticking to the rules. ;)

I don't understand how there isn't enough time to have guinea pigs and a baby?

there are so many animals on preloved, it's so sad to see especially when they are 'free to good home'

has she got existing.pigs who had babies and shes selling the babies or she recently got pigs and now wants rid?!

if she has a high needs baby, piggies could be a bit much for her... but why get them in the first place?

I see lots on Freecycle & I always contact the owners with details of my local rescue. I actually got my last 2 piggies on Preloved they were part of an ad for a rabbit hutch. My wife & I went to view & fell in love with them. They're now living happily with the neutered boy I adopted from Bunny Burrows at end of last year.

Possibly she's bought them for her other kids, and ended up looking after them herself? She wouldn't be the first parent to cave into a childs demands.

Sometimes if you have a difficult/traumatic birth and are ill afterwards, or your baby is, everything is too hard to cope with in addition to your new baby :(

I'm really greatful to my friends who fostered my pigs 9 years ago when i was so ill after having my son.

Hi I am in Torrington Devon and cannot find 2 female guinea pigs anywhere in this area, can anyone advise?
