Hi its me again ::) ;D

Can anyone tell me how pigies get on with two tier hutch ramps? My adopted piggies are coming soon and i would like to get them a two tier hutch with run attahced to the side...
I would put slip resistant rubber on the ramp and i am also thinking of modifying the ramp so it isn't as steep...

Whats everyones opinions?

hiya,

i got a 2 tier hutch (an ebay bargain, thistle hall hutch and fennel fold run from pets at home) and it took about 2 days for my piggies (3 boys) to get used to the ramp. they spent the first night all upstairs as no one would try it despite leaving carrot pieces and grass sprinkled on the ramp for encouragement! i did try placing them halfway up the ramp although only 1 was brave enough to go up, the others weren't keen and just wanted to go down.

by the end of the next day though they had all worked it out and were happily scooting up and down and enjoying the attached run. they look very happy with all the space they've now got.

good luck with yours!

Sounds good! Iam putting sides on my ramp just in case and a little box over the entrance to stop any one falling in! I want to take the wooden struts off and put non slip rubber matting on it so it sounds like they should pick it up ok... O0

Could a moderator please move this into the housing section of the forum? Might get more replys there...

Oooops didnt realise there was a housing section! Must read properly... 98)

I have a two tier hutch. My boys took to it straight away. They run up and down the ramp no problem, and even jump down from halfway up sometimes (usually if they smell food!). I haven't modified it at all and they are fine.

some guineas take to ramps, others don't! Only 2 of mine have ever agreed to use a ramp, the rest just ignore it and either get stuck at the bottom or top of the hutch

I too have the Thistle Hall from P@H, my two new piggies dont use the ramp at all. The other 5 have no problems, they dont really go upstairs anyway...
