I don't know about everyone on this forum but I have tried so many different brands and types of hay since I got my piggies that I am so relieved to finally have found the perfect fit. I settled on buying hay from a local farm that is a 5 minute drive from my house and it only cost me $15 for 4 huge 50 pound bales of hay that I can store in my shed so they stay good for a long time! AND they will continuously sell me hay whenever I need it!

I basically wanted to hear everyone's hay stories like what they have found to be the right fit for them and stuff like that.

I am in love with this hay as it is grass/meadow hay and is extremely soft, smells beautiful, is a nice green colour and has very trace amounts of alfalfa in it...I was not impressed when I previously bought timothy hay from a farm because it was so thick and coarse but looking around has most certainly paid off!

I get hay from a farm too. It's amazing stuff and so cheap compared to what's available in shops.
I don't have a place to store a large quantity of hay, so the farmer does a big bag for me for £2! The pigs love it!

you hay from pet stores is ridiculously expensive! I would buy a bag of hay for $40 and it would last me just over 2 weeks...now I pay less than $20 and get hay for at least 6 months to a year. plus its fresher and I think better quality

In my area there are lots of ads on kijiji on the internet. you could try looking on craigslist or in the newspaper. you could maybe try asking at your vets or even looking around for horse stables and contacting them. they usually have hundreds of bales and would probably not mind selling you a few for cheap.
