Alright, so we now have a little bit of a problem. I was handling Ikaros last night to make her an ornament to put on our Christmas tree, when I noticed she has a knot on her right side near her last rib. She doesn't act like it is painful, but also, I don't know what it could be. . .

Before consulting a vet, should this be something I need to worry about? Or could it be like maybe she bumped her side, and it pops up?

Thanks ahead for any help! <3

Right, sorry, I suppose I was a little vague. What I mean is, it feels like a rounded lump. Not flat and spaced like a bump, and most definitely not a knot in the fur. It doesn't seem to cause her pain, so I don't know what to do.

As per the forum ethos, it's always better to be safe rather than sorry, if you're able to then you should consult a vet.

Lumps are pretty impossible to diagnose over the internet; they should always be checked by a vet, as they can be so many things. The majority is harmless, but it is better to make sure and leave it to the vet to decide how to go about it after he's seen and felt it.

PS: You would help us a lot if you please created a title that contains the problem you are dealing with, so members with experience in that area can specifically answer.

Any mysterious lumps or bumps should always be checked by a vet asap. Many of them are just fatty lumps and are completely harmless, but only a vet can make a firm diagnosis.

Edit: Sorry, my post crossed with Wiebke's!

It's possible it's just cartilage from the floating ribs but its always best to get new lumps and bumps checked out

its just a thought but its not one of her nipples is it? does she have one exactly the same the other side? xx

GPTV, the lump I was describing was an equal distance between her belly and spine on her side. While a good guess, that wasn't quite the location. Thanks for the offer of help. <3

I think Amanda1801 or Jerrybelly may have been right about this situation. I had her out on my lap this evening, and I couldn't find it again. I mean I searched her good too. Hmmm, a little odd if you ask me, but I guess I will have to keep a good eye on her in case it turns up again.

Thank you all for your help!

ahh oops! sorry not quite the right location.
i would definitely keep an eye on it, hopefully it is just floating cartilage as amanda says or maybe a fatty lump, strange its gone tho ?!?

fingers crossed &hope shes ok, would get a vet to check her out if u notice any changes though. xx
