Okay, so I decided to fill the girls' litter tray with Breeder's Choice Cat Litter. I was using layers of newspaper but that was getting wet and stinky really fast. I would use Carefresh but it's just too expensive where I live ($12 for the smallest bag?! Me thinks not!). Breeder's Choice is made out of recycled newspaper and each granule is pellet-shaped. I'm scared they will eat it because it looks suspiciously similar to their pellet food! I've seen Pippa nibbling at the bedding. Is it bad for guinea pigs (especially babies, 4 weeks old) to eat this kind of bedding?

If it is just recycled paper i would think a small amount wouldnt do any harm, however if it has been chemically treated, i.e. to prevent it from smelling then yes that will do them harm, what does the packagng of the litter say?

I have just switched to the Carefresh for my gang and spotted one of my boars was having a sly little munch on it yesterday rolleyes
Carefresh is recycled paper and contains no chemicals etc. but as someone else suggested, check the contents on the packaging.

It says there are no additives or chemicals, I just wasn't sure if having paper in their little stomachs would cause problems :S
