Things are a lot better since the last time I posted and I just thought to share this to let you lovely people that commented and took concern know how things are
Houdini hasn't hooted for well over a week and the problem seems to have cleared up since I stopped putting the boys on this curtain material I found in the garage that had been left behind by previous owners of my house. I'm thinking that it's to do with the dust particals and whatever else that was on the material that might have been causing breathing problems. Both boys seem to be doing well at the time being but I plan on taking them to the vets in a week and a bits time for another check up as I'd like to have Houdini tested for heart problems just to be safe. Now for the better news, I have applied for government support and have been accepted to get a fortnightly allowance that is enough to cover the cost of keeping the boys healthy and happy. Because of this I have already started looking for a new hutch (a c&c hutch) but seeing as these seem to be impossible to get in Australia, after looking on the ACS (Australian Cavy Sanctuary) site I've found that they sell very good, big and fun guinea pig hutches for very reasonable prices. As well as that I plan on stocking up on cozies for the boys seeing as winters coming and while it doesn't get too cold here and they are both very chubby and wooly (Picasso is a Texel mix and Houdini is a Peruvian sheltie mix) I still think they would appreciate a nice cozie each to snuggle up in! And, while I haven't been able to post any pictures of my gorgeous boys, once I get the vets and hutch sorted out I shall be saving up for a camera so you can all have a look
So that's all for now, a huge thank you to everyone who has commented on my previous threads with advice and support, you're the best
