I have today administered bephar anti paracite spot on containing invectermin to my two male boars exactly as the packet instructed, it had been well over a couple of hours since it was applied however I'm really worried because they are started trying to chew the area of fur it was applied to on eachother!? i have distracted them with hay in a loo roll for now... They always have fresh hay, water, dried and fresh food available, they also have a ball, an empty toilet roll tube, two tunnels and a soft toy *plus their coseys* i dont know what else i can do? Is this really harmfull?

It was anminstered mainly as a precaution as i thought i had seen a slight increase in itchiness. However there are no bald patches or loss of fur or other symptoms.

Any advice anyone had would be hugely apreciated!

Have they had it before? I'm wondering if it's an allergic reaction, if they carry on it might be best to try and wash the area incase it's irritating their skin then go back to the drawing board and try a different product. You'll need to check what you can use and how soon after though, don't want to double dose them.

Thanks

Yes they have had this exact product before about 3 months ago with no side effects at all. It makes their hair stick together so maybe they are just grooming eachother.

They seem to have stopped now, neither piggy seemed agitated by the product just the other decided to chew it off... Hopefully they will be fine. I'm just worried it might poisin them if they ingest it...? It does not say anything on the packet and surely if it was poisinous they would not give it to guinea pigs?

I would of thought it wouldn't cause them any problems, as you say they wouldn't be allowed to put anything in it that could harm them or would have to put a warning on it.
Glad they're stopping now perhaps they just weren't happy that you'd messed their hair up. :))
Just keep an eye on them and make sure the skin's not looking sore.

:)

I will, thanks very much... youve eased my worries a little. I will have to sleep now so ill check them carefully in the morning. It has no warnings about ingesting on the packet so hopefully it wont be a problem and it should have been on long enough to be pretty much effective anyway. Thanks again for your help...
Also good to know your not to far from me! I'm in swindon. Just down the M4... ive never seen anyone on here so close before!

I just had a look on the companies website and I can't find anything either so fingers crossed they should be fine. Good night neighbour!
