Basically 1 of my sows has a uri and has been on septrim for the last 2.5 weeks and has been great no wheezing, shes eating fine and back to her normal self but today iv noticed she is wheezing and sounds croaky every now and then but not as bad as when we first took her to the vets, she is still eating fine and drinking. Is it possible the septrim has stopped working and does anyone think i should take her back to the vets or leave it a while and see?

I would take her back to the vets, uri's can be very difficult to get rid of and this could jsut be a small step backwards, best to take her to the vets now rather than waiting until it gets worse again.

yeah i think i am going to when they open back up. she seems fine now it only lasted a minute or 2, could it possibly be washing powder from washing their fleece? Because it happened just after id put it back in the cage?

also what kind of dose of septrin can i give because shes only on 0.2 ml twice a day.

It could be shes having a reaction to the smell if it was strong, I know that when I had pneumonia the slightest thing would have me coughing my guts up. Is it possible to get her away from the fleece for a little while, (a little floor time) to see if it makes a difference?

shes sitting with me now and seems fine still a bit sneezy i think i am gonna phone the vets and ask if i can get a different antibiotic or ask them to check her lungs because she has had breathing problems all her life

URI can cause permanent damage or acerbate any existing previous damage.

I agree that it would be best to have her checked by your vet. If necessary, the dosis can be upped.

Please weigh her daily.

Thanks i weigh her everyone couple of days and she keeps putting weight on shes put on 150 grams in a week :(|) ill visit the vets when they open up.
